OGAWA x Universiti Malaya Research Collaboration on Master Drive AI 2.0

Time for relaxation… I’m sure many of us would like to have a massage chair at home to induce relaxation and relieve stress. Besides providing relaxation, does massage has any significance in improving our well-being and health? With that OGAWA Malaysia together with Universiti Malaya conducted a research titled ‘Investigating the Effects of OGAWA Master Drive AI Automated Massage on Blood Circulation and Sleep Quality’ using Master Drive AI 2.0 massage chair.

This joint research between OGAWA Malaysia and Universiti Malaya to identify effects of automated massage chairs on an individual’s blood circulation and sleep quality. This is to further raise awareness on the importance of massage to reconnect with your body while giving the individual the needed comfortable sleep that is needed.

As we know that massage chair improves our well-being, with these research findings give us deeper insight and understanding on how it can enhance our health and lifestyle.

During the press conference, Datuk Lim Mee Ling, Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of OGAWA Malaysia shared that the cumulative effects of sleep loss and sleep disorders are causing increased risk of hypertension, diabetes, obesity, depression, heart attack, and stroke. Additionally, according to the National Health and Morbidity Survey, the number of Malaysians with depression and anxiety disorder rose from 12% in 2011 to 29% in 2017.

OGAWA x Universiti Malaya Joint-Research Findings

OGAWA Malaysia and Universiti Malaya built on this research based on a study being done by a group of individuals when using OGAWA’s innovative flagship product, the OGAWA Master Drive AI 2.0.

Providing the necessary hardware, ideas, and technical support to ensure successful research, the study disclosed that 100% of the participants showed a significant improvement in blood circulation: 81.32% by using the OGAWA Master Drive AI 2.0 M6 Deep Tissue program and 43.48% through the Blood Circulation program, while 100% of the participants recorded an increase in sleep quality and up to 88.73% progressed in sleep efficiency through the Sweet Dream program.

Prof. Dr. Saad Mekhilef, CEng (UK), SMIEEE(USA), FIET(UK), Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Malaya expressed that the university was keen to be a part of the research to not only contribute their knowledge to this significant study that maybe useful for future studies, but to aid in improving the overall wellness of the nation and potentially increase the life expectancies of Malaysians.

“Well-being does not only incorporate healthy diets and consistent workouts, but regular massages can contribute much more to the human soul - from correcting postural stress to boosting immunity. Through this study, we want to convey the major health benefits attached to having regular massages and how it should be considered vital for our overall health - be it to relieve sore muscles, reduce stress or even boost your immune system, massages will leave a positive impact on your everyday life” said Prof. Dr. Saad.

During the event, I had an immersive massage experience using OGAWA’s latest flagship Master Drive AI 2.0; so relaxing and comprehensive. I can control the function by just talking to the massage chair and the best part is that it can track and detect the areas that I need more attention. This is an innovative and truly dream massage chair that I wish to have at home.
